Schultz, Irene (Marriage - 14 Sept. 1946)

The Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church at Unity was the scene of the wedding of Miss Irene Schultz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Schultz, Unity, and Conrad Flink, son of August Flink, Unity. The Rev. J. A. Olson officiated at the nuptial service read at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 14. Mrs. Henry Binning played the wedding marches and the accompaniment for Mrs. John Dix, of Marshfield, who sang, "I Love You Truly" and "Because." Bouquets of gladioli and lighted tapers decorated the altar.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a princess styled gown of white silk made from the parachute her bridegroom used while in the service. The long full skirt ended in a court train. Her finger-tip veil was caught to a Juliet cap of handmade lace trimmed with a cluster of white roses at either side. Her shower bouquet of white roses centered with lilies was swathed in filmy maline.

Miss June Schultz, who served as her sister’s maid of honor, wore a white marquisette frock styled with brief off-the-shoulder cap sleeves. Deep red roses were tucked in her curls and she carried white gladioli and red roses in her arms.

Miss Delores Peter, Mitchell, S.D. and Mrs. Frank Obernberger, Athens, the latter a sister of the groom, wore yellow and aqua marquisette dresses with off-the-shoulder necklines. Both wore red roses in their hats and carried bouquets similar to the maid of honor’s, except they were tied with maline to match their frocks.

Walter Flink, Minocqua, was his brother’s best man. William Schultz Jr., Edgar, a cousin, ushered.

A reception at the home and a dinner for 100 guests served at the church by the Ladies Aid Society followed the wedding. White, yellow and aqua streamers and bouquets of long-stemmed gladioli decorated the church hall for the occasion. A large three tier wedding cake formed the center-piece at the table. A dance was held at Walter’s Pavilion at Colby.

After October 1 the young couple will be home to friends on the groom’s farm west of Unity. Mrs. Flink graduated from the Unity, Wis. High School in 1943 and the Electronic Radio Institute at Minneapolis and for 19 months has been employed at Marine headquarters at Washington D.C. Her husband was discharged recently from the Army Air Forces after 14 months of duty.
